Land Rover Repair: Check Engine Light on- Car Dies, vacuum seal, vacuum leak

Question
So I have a 98 LR Disco.  I bought it in June and about 2 days after buying it the CE light came on.  It was read as a MAF vacuum seal leak.  The MAF was replaced and it was tested for a Vacuum leak.. There were no visible signs of a leak.

The last couple weeks the car would start up and idle really low. Sometimes giving it gas will get it going properly and yesterday everytime I pressed on the gas the car died.  Finally after about an hour it started up as it normally did.

What might be causing this and what should I tell the dealership where I bought it to check on so it can get fixed

Answer
First of all, there is no fault code for " read as a MAF vacuum seal leak"  That is someone's interpretation of whatever was stored.

Your first step is to find someone with skill diagnosing and repairing Land Rovers.  Diagnosis and even the meaning of codes varies from car to car.  These are not vehicles for Joe at the corner garage.  I encourage you to look on sites like RangeRovers.net for qualified LR people near where you live.  Your next step is to read whatever codes are now stored in the engine computer, do the indicated tests, and take corrective action.

The assumption that codes point to parts that need to be replaced is wrong, and leads to lots of experimental parts changing as you just experienced.  Codes tell you a parameter is out of range.  There are usually many possible reasons for that, most of which are not a failed sensor.
