Land Rover Repair: 2001 Disco II, head gasket replacement, head gaskets

Question
Hi there, we have a 2001 Disco II and last week the temp gauge went all the way to the red.  My husband checked and there was water in the oil and coming out the tail pipe.  We are thinking blown head gaskets; which we have already purchased.  The problem is getting the radiator fan out so he can proceed with the  changing the gaskets.  What can he do to remove the fan? We are on a tight budget and have to do all repairs ourselves...thank you for your response!

Answer
Either purchase a fan wrench from an auto parts store or remove with a hammer and drift in a counter clockwise rotation.

There is a good chance with oil and water coming out of the tail pipe, that the engine is beyond simple head gasket replacement as the liners may well have come loose and are leaking.
