Land Rover Repair: Emission Relay, land rover discovery, princess auto

Question
Hello Sir, I own a Land Rover Discovery 2001. I just want to reset my emission relay. I read it is located in the side panel passenger side. But unfortunately, I could not find it. Only relay is cruise control. Could you please help me to locate it.
Regrads!

Answer
Hi Manu,

on model Disco series I there was an emissions reminder that you could reset with a paperclip (found in the passenger footwell).  On the model Disco series II there is no such reminder relay.  If you see a warning light, its there because a fault was detected and duplicated.

You can try pulling the negative cable off the battery for a few seconds then reattaching it.  This will clear any faults that may have been stored BUT if the problem still exisits, when you reconnect and start up the engine the fault light will return.

You should buy an OBDII reader from your local auto parts store.  Canadian tire, Auto Value, Princess Auto, even Wal-Mart sell OBDII readers that can reset codes.  Best to find out which code is present and then take steps to correct the problem.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
