Land Rover Repair: p38 door problem, door latch, interior panel

Question
hi john i need some help on my p38 please, my front passenger side door has just stopped working and it is now locked and i cannot open it, it is not just the door, the window and the wing mirror has also stopped working, it looks like the whole door has shut down, all other electrics are working ok, i wondered what controls all three things apart from the becm, from what i have been told the becm relay works for both front doors, also i understand that there is a door module inside the door if you could let me know if this controls the window, the door and the wing mirror i would be very gratful, also i have been told that to get the door open i have to break the striker? i was thinking of getting through the door card as a friend has a spare door card that i could have? can i release the lock from inside the door card? thanks in advance and any help you can give i would be very grateful

Answer
Hi Dave,

you have my sympathy.  I've never had to do this ... yet.  I'm haunted by door latch and pwr window problems but not this bad.  I would strongly advise you to visit the following website for more specific help with your P38.

www.discoweb.org

I use this site often and you can post your Q there and get a world full of responses from fellow P38 owners.

I once had to open my rear door by removing the interior panel and freeing up the latch.  But I don't think that'll work for you.

Give that website a try...I'm 100% sure you'll get someone who's been there, done that.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
