Land Rover Repair: HDC & TC lights stay on - freelander 1.8s 02, wheel sensors, abs light

Question
these lights stay on despite the fact i have never used the HDC since purchasing 6 months ago. additionally the engine occassionaly stutters as if wanting to change gear. about a month prior, a drain/fill plug mysteriously came loose in the intermediate transmission and i had to replace the fluid. any advice??

Answer
Hi Michael,

HDC and TC lights are indicating a sensor fault has been detected.  The dealer can determine the code and have a better notion of where the trouble is.  Usually, we see these two lights with the ABS light.  They are usually indications that there are problems within the ABS system, brakes, wheel sensors or hubs.  Sometimes, there exists a suspension problem.

The drain plug dropping off is a mystery.  Could be that the fluid was changed and this plug was not replaced properly.  Just in case, occasionally check this plug to determine that it is seated properly.  If you hear not strange noises from below or detect no additional heat on the floor, you should be ok.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
