Land Rover Repair: 2000 Disco II Wiper Sensor, discovery series ii, small fortune

Question
I just took my 2000 discovery series II into the dealer as a result of the 3 usual lights coming on (ABS, TC and Hill Descent.)  They said I needed a new SLABS Control Unit which cost me a small fortune.  I picked the vehicle up today and now the wipers are getting stuck in the middle of the window on the intermittent function.  I called the dealer back and they said that the 2 systems are completely unrelated and that there is no way the wipers sensor would be effected by the programing of the ECU.  They want me to spend an additional $430 dollars to have the sensor replaced.  This seems to coincidental.  Have you ever heard of anyone with similar problems?  Are these two systems entirely different or is it possible the programming of one effected the other?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Heather

Answer
As far as I know the systems are completely un-related.

They both connect to the body computer, perhaps a connector got dislodged.

There is no sensor in the circuit that I can find (and no sensor I've heard of that costs $400), ask them for more details on that.
