Land Rover Repair: Tired of annoying ACE noise..., ace system, torsion bar

Question
After seeing the dealer twice, and an independent LR repair garage, they all tell me the noise I hear is 'normal' for the ACE system in my 2000 Disco II.  Well, I tired of listening to it and am wondering if there's an alternative.  Can I simply remove the ACE components and install anti-roll bars or the like, with possibly new springs/shocks etc and be back in business?

Who ever designed such a ridiculous system like ACE should be slapped upside the head.

Cheers,
Jeff G.

Answer
Hi Jeff,

Yes, you can remove the ACE system and put in a standard roll bar, not a light undertaking though.  I think the ACE torsion bar will function as a standard roll bar when un-plugged but I do not have any experience with this.  The major LR parts houses will have the parts you need, call the tech help line to get exactly the right parts.

I don't think the noise you hear is "normal" though, if it is loud enough to be annoying it probably isn't right.
