Land Rover Repair: Engine shutting down, fuse box, mtrs

Question
I have an English built Australian version 1996 3.9ltr petrol Discovery. What happens is, whilst driving at 110 kph the engine shuts down for no apparent reason. No check engine light comes up, nor any indication of the immobiliser system being activated. You pull over to the side of the road, turn the key off and restart no problem. It will go for anything between 100 mtrs or 300 kms before it does it again. The ignition coil has been replaced along with the fuel pump. The immobiliser / central locking on this car is somewhat of a pain and works when it wants to. Is there a link between the two problems.

Answer
Hi Vince,

I've never heard of this happening but you never know.  Kind of dangerous situation, if you ask me.

Have you checked the engine fuse box to see if the wiring is bad?  Maybe the main cable is frayed or worse.  A major ground fault problem could cause this too.

wow. If you've had trouble with the security system before, it's time to have it repaired.
