Hey John, really enjoy the forum and your answers.  they are always helpful and have saved me a bundle.  okay this is a really stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway.

the original radio in my LR discovery 1996 was stolen before I bought it.  I have bought a replacement LR discovery radio on ebay and have it all hooked up and now need to enter the code.  I have the radio code associated with my car VIN (16624), but it doesn't seem to unlock the replacement radio.  are the codes set by car or by radio?  is there anyway to figure out the code of this new radio.

Your Land Rover dealer should be able to look up the correct code for the new radio from its serial number.  They can look up codes by the VIN of the truck it came from, or by the radio number itself.

If you have been messing with the radio  . . . trying codes . . . you will need to leave it powered on saying "code" for 1.5 hours before it will accept the new code, once you have it
