Land Rover Repair: When should get a valve job?/, valve job, engine stalls

Hi,
I have a LR 1999 discovery II that has 113000 miles and has never had a valve job.What are the warning signs that are associated with the valves?Also what is the average cost for a valve job?

Hi Mark,

loss of power, misfires, poor gas performance, rough idle, engine stalls are all signs of valve trouble.  The series II engines have trouble with sticking exhaust valves...very common problem that can start as early as 50,000 miles.  

Valve jobs are about $2000 to $2500.
