Land Rover Repair: discovery wont start, land rover discovery, amp fuse

Question
I have a 1995 Land Rover Discovery.  I had a short in the alternator and it went out.  It also blew the 100 amp fuse.  I replaced the alternator, the fuse, and put in a brand new interstate battery.

The electrical equipment works, but the car won't turn over.

Is there some sort of security thing that I need to reset?  If not, any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you.

Answer
You may have additional wiring damage - for example, you may have problems with the cables from battery to fuse box.  Or you may have problems with the alarm.

I'd suggest you get the wiring diagram and check all the power distribution points.  1995 Discoveries had quite a few problems in that regard.

If the alarm is locking out cranking you'll be able to test for that and correct it with the info in the manuals.

If you do not have manuals you can download the information for a small fee (under $20) from Land Rover's site, www.landrovertechinfo.com
