Land Rover Repair: Fuel Gage not Working (98 LR Disco), land rover discovery, fuel gauge

1998 Land Rover Discovery:

I am wondering what I may do to fix the problem with the fuel gage (in-dashboard).  It registers on total empty with the low-fuel light illuminated at all times.  From a novise, I believe it is completely broke???

Please advise?

Hi Jason,

sounds like the fuel gauge sender (found on fuel pump) may be at fault.  The other possibility is the dash gauge but that's rare.

IF it is the fuel pump sender, I'm not sure how to repair this.  Usually, the entire pump is just exchanged.  You can either replace the pump with a new one or take your chance with a salvaged one:  www.car-part.com

Salvage parts are usually a fraction of a new or rebuilt part.
