Lexus Repair: EGR system, exhaust gas recirculation valve, exhaust gas recirculation

Question
Hi there. I have a 99 Toyota Solara V6, but thought I'd ask you, since the car is a camry, which is essentially an ES300, and you could probably shed some light on the matter.

Anyway, I got codes P0402 and P1411, excessive flow in exhaust gas recirculation valve, and EGR valve position sensor circuit range/performace (malfunction), respectively. No performance loss, though I wouldn't know how it's supposed to feel, the car's only been with me for 2 weeks.

Seems to me it might be an electrical problem, since the P1141 code seems to be for some sensor? What do you think the part at fault is? Or does the system just need cleaned out?

Thanks for your help. Have a great week.

Answer
Hello Matt, This happens at times if you like to top off your fuel tank when filling up. Fuel gets in to the charcoal canister and small charcoal pieces get in to the vacuum hose to your EGR modulator valve and cause the EGR valve to stick open. I would just replace your EGR modulator valve and you should be ok. Remember no more fuel in the tank after it clicks off.
