Lexus Repair: Is the cost worth it?, lexus 400, lexus repair

Question
I have a 1990 Lexus 400 purchased new with 160,000 miles and now live in an area 120 miles from Lexus repair.  The car has a normal and sport setting which raises and lowers the car automatically as well as a tracking system.  The car has completely lowered itself and the controls between the seat no longer affect any change.  A local mechanic checked it and said that there were two computer modules that possibly had gone bad (cost approximately $400 each) but I would have to have vehicle towed to a dealership that had the diaganostic equipment to determine if this was in fact the problem.  I have upgraded the air conditioning system to the current freon standards several years ago to the tune of $3,000 appox. and each visit to a Lexus dealer always proves to be very costly.  I was hoping that someone knowledgeable could give me some idea of what kind of dollars I might be looking at should I pursue a repair.  After 14 years it may be time to retire it to a junk yard, but I'm definitely not interested  in another luxury car to ride over gravel roads. I am retired and just want dependable transportation (second vehicle).  Thank you for any insight you might be able to give me.  Regards,

Answer
Hello, It sounds like you have a Lexus with air suspension. I would first check the switch in the trunk to insure it is in the on position, then with the key on (vehicle not running)listen for any air pump noises. If you can hear the air pump working then it may be a problem with the shocks not holding air anymore. This is more common. All these repairs are expensive. Thanks for your question
