Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 95 villager will not start, neutral safety switch, manual lever

Question
My 95 villager will not start. I have all electonics but the starter will not turn over.  The starter checked out OK, no power getting to it.  Check all fuses and ignition switch.  Thought it was relay, but a new one didn't help.  Is there another relay or switch somewhere that I may be missing?

Answer
We run into this sometimes at the shop. Make sure your alarm is disabled. If you are sure that the anti-theft device is off, then you might have a bad neutral safety switch. Try moving the gear selector down while holding the key in the start position. I would replace the neutral safety switch if all else fails. It is located on the transmission and is also known as a manual lever position sensor. It has the big plug on it. When you replace it, it comes from the dealer in neutral. Make sure you have the selector (gear shift) in neutral when you install it.
