Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 93 VILLAGER DIES AFTER ABOUT 15 MILES, pep boys, delivery problem

Question
i HAVE A 93 VILLAGER AND WHEN WE ARE DIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE VAN JUST DIES.  SOMETIMES IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND SOME TIMES YOU HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT 10 MIN.  i HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER AND RAN SOME INJECTOR CLEANER THOUGH IT WITH NO HELP.  I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL PARTS STORE AND THEY TRIED TO GET THE CODES BUT THE SAY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE HOOK UP.  ANY HELP OR IDEAS WOULD BE GREAT

Answer
Hi Jer,

The problem with A-Z or Pep Boys and the like is they are not familiar with certain vehicles. Yours scans like a Nissan. This is why he couldn't read any codes. He was scanning it as a Ford. This is not a fuel delivery problem. It is a spark problem. You have a bad sensor and it's shutting down the ignition system. To pinpoint this we need to have it properly scanned. I suggest a Cottman Transmission because they do it for free. Once you have the DTC's, resubmit and I will guide you thru the repair.
