Lincoln/Mercury Repair: engine cost, mercury mountaineer, private owner

I wanted to buy a 1997 mercury mountaineer from a private owner.  He informed me that the engine was gone in it. I was wondering how much it will be to replace a engine with everything else working good and if it will be a smart buy?

this is a good truck the eng installed with a good used eng would be around 1000 in my shop . depending what the shop wants to sell you . it is a smart buy if the shop numbers are right for u . good luck to u hun na du have a pretty name pete
