Mazda Repair: 94 mx3 snapping alternator belts, luck chris, mx3

Question
My daughter's car keeps breaking alternator belts.  we removed the alternator and had it tested and it tested out fine.  We checket the other pulleys and they seem smooth.  When a new belt is installed, it is initally fine until the "load" on the alternator is increased.  Then the pulley on the alternator gets HOT and disinagrates the belt.  It seems silly to replace an alternator that is good, but it is the only thing we can think of.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Mimi thanks for asking, does the alternator puilly actualy seize when the engine is running? if that is the case then the bearings are no good in the alternator, it is normal for the unit to get hot, but not to the point where it will burn the belt off, this may be a case where you will have to replace the alternator,
good luck
