Mercedes Benz repair: 1985 500SEL rough start, kansas city section, wichita section

Question
Recently bought a 1985 Mercedes 500SEL.  When test drove, it ran and started fine. After getting it home, when trying to start the car, it will either turn over and then die, or not start at all.  After 3-5 attempts at starting it, it will start but idles very rough, almost stalling.  If I shift into drive or reverse, it seems to help it, but  most times I just have to leave it alone for about 10 minutes.  After that, it runs perfectly, not hesitating or anything.  At first, it would only happen once a day, the first time i started it. After that, it would start right up.  Now, it is getting harder and harder to start each time.  I'm in Hutchinson, KS. Close to Wichita, KS.  Thank you.
