Mitsubishi Repair: 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse Gst, air control valve, ring gasket

Question
My car is idling way  to high when I start the car  , and when I am driving the car and stop at a light . The idle is to low where it feels like the car is going to turn off.  I was told it might be the idle air control valve .(so I replaced it )  but the car is still doing the same thing . Anyone have an idea of what could be wrong ?

Answer
Joe,
Your idle timing may just need to be adjusted.  There is also a possibility the bypass valve located into your throttle body is clogged or damaged.  A clogged PCV valve or worn o-ring gasket on your base idle set screw (BISS) can also contribute this problem.  The BISS is located on top of your throttle body, and may have a small rubber disc concealing it.  Have those items check and serviced and hopefully that will fix your problem.
Good luck!
