Mitsubishi Repair: 89 mitsy magna, mitsy, black boxes

have a 89 mitsy magna 2.6 astron engine in it came home the other night parked up all good went out the next morning to start it wont turn over  have replaced battery ,starter motor ,when you turn the key to start it makes a clicking noise from under the dash and the dash lights go dim have checked most things hope you can help cheers dean

Dean: You need to check for a bad relay, there are three black boxes in with the engine. One on the driver's side of the car, up by the firewall and the other two should be by the battery. On the tops of these boxes are what is in each box. I would check them, as you could have blew a relay or one of the large fuses in the box. Are you sure the starter is hooked up right? Other wise I would check the timing belt, have you ever replaced that? It your car is a 1989 but running the same timing belt it come home with band new. I would say the timing belt went and so you will need to have that replace. But check for those relays or fuses first. If you find a bad relay or large fuse in one of those boxes. You will need to remove the neg cable off the battery, replace the relay or fuse and then put the cable back on. Oh hey you might check the cables on the battery to make sure they are tight too.
