Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse, mitsubishi eclipse, dosnt

Question
i just bought a 1995 mitsubishi eclipse 2.0L DOHC non-turbo that had been sitting for a while. I jump started the car to get it home....everything worked fine. I was charging my battery while still connected to the car and i tried to start the car. Then i saw a big flash coming from the hood. Now my car cranks but dosnt want to start. What could be my problem?

Answer
Jerry,
You may have blown an ignition fuse or possibly your alternator.  With the battery charging and then the surge of current from the alternator when you tried to start it, you probably fried one or more ignition components.  I'd suggest removing your alternator and bringing it to a auto store or mechanic garage to get it load tested.  Your battery should be tested as well.  Also check all your fuses under your hood.
Good luck!
