Mitsubishi Repair: Fuel tank, diameter hose, tunk

Question
The motor in my 94 Mirage seized and i want to drain the three quarters of a tank of fuel from the car before i sell it and get another car. we tired to siphon the fuel but there seams to be a trap preventing a hose from reaching the fuel in the tank even a small diameter hose will not work. With the price of gas these days i don't want to just give it away. Is there a way to drain the tank without removing it from the car? Thanks for your time.

Answer
Mary: You might check there could be a drain plug on the tank on your car. Or you might try unhooking the return hose from the fuel filter, see if you can get the fuel pump to pump the fuel into a pail or something. But becareful doing things like this, as it could cause a fire. You might also see if in your tunk of your car, if you remove the tire, sometimes they put a small door as to check the fuel pump and it's wires there. You might be able to remove that, so get a hose into the tank to remove the fuel. I know what you mean about the high cost of fuel but the car companies make it hard for someone wanting to steal your gas. Hope this helps you some and good luck! Linda
