Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsu Expo Auto Trans Squeal, wheel bearings, alternator belt

Question
My 1995 Expo 2.4 with 99k mi makes a high-pitched squeal when I accelerate.  It only happens when in motion, won't happen if parked.  Also no noise when I brake-torque.  I think it's the tranny.  It sounds like a belt, but it still does it after I drive without the alternator belt.  I've been tearing my hair out about this.  I also recently replaced the timing belt and water pump; timing idlers OK.  The trans fluid is old, brownish but not burned.  I drained out 2 qts, and put in 2 of type F, problem remains.  I've never heard a trans make such a noise, could the rear clutch be metal-to-metal?  Other possibilities?  Might new ATF+3 or +4 and filter fix it?

Answer
Art: I would replace the fluid and the filter as to the brown fluid that is not a good sign. But never heard of such a noise you talk about. Other then being from a bearing being out or going out. I would check the wheels that your belts of your car run on. Could be a bad bearing someplace. Could be this noise is coming from your front end, should have your wheel bearings checked. Other wise you should take the car to a shop and let them find the problem. Because whatever this is will only get worse. Hope this helps and good luck!
