Mitsubishi Repair: timing marks, crankshaft pulley, mitsubishi mirage

Question
What are the timing marks for a 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage?

Answer
Hello Chris,

The best answer to that question would be in a manual. They're available at most parts stores, inexpensive and a wealth of information.

Timing marks are marks that, in conjunction with the timing belt, insure the crankshaft, which drives the pistons, and the camshaft, which drives the valves, are in sinc. They are also used to 'time' the engine in a tune-up.

Depending on what you are doing, the timing marks for replacement of the timing belt are found on the crankshaft sprocket, the front case, the camshaft sprocket and the cylinder head.

If you're trying to set the timing on a tune-up, the timing marks are found on the crankshaft pulley and the lower timing belt cover.

Good Luck!
