Mitsubishi Repair: 1996 eclipse rs (electrical problem), kinds of sensors, sensor problems

Question
Just in the past few months my eclipse when either I turn the key ignition on all my electricals shuts off(diagnostics, radio  presets reset and anything electrical hooked up does not function) as though there is no power is coming from the battery.  The battery is brand new and when this problem occurs, the moment I turn the ignition forward to acc it acts fine, the radio turns on fine.  But when I turn it to the on position is when everything shuts down. or sometimes the car cranks on but immediately turns off. Is something shorting out?  I usually try to start it several times and eventually it starts. It runs fine once the car is on.

Answer
Mark: Sounds like sensor problems, either they are out or getting weak. Could be your computer too. To make things work in your car, it has all kinds of sensors that read things and then send that back to the computer that gets everything working. You could have a relay out too. Or even a short someplace. Got an AutoZone or a ohmmeter? Either one can check to see what is going on with your car. Hope this helps and good luck!
