Mitsubishi Repair: MITSUBISHI SHOGUN V6 AUTO 1989 7 seater, crankcase ventilation, mitsubishi shogun

Question
Hi, the problem I've got is when you go to drive the Shogan it feels like its missing or only firing on 5. It's in the garage and they can't find anything wrong with it, its had new leads plugs filter full krypton tune fuel pressure test and its still running bad. But when idle it seems to be running ok all the test say it's as well, it's just when you put in drive and go.
I hope you can help me.
Kind regards
Mark

Answer
Mark,
Since I don't know all the tests that were already done on it, I can't rule out possible problems the mechanics have checked.  But your problem could be in any of the following:
- Poorly set timing
- Worn belt tensioner
- Clogged fuel injector
- Weak fuel pump
- Weak battery
- Weak alternator
- Poor cylinder compression
- Problem in the crankcase ventilation system
- Problem with the torque converter (assuming you have an automatic)
- Problem in the ECU (engine control unit)
- problem in the TCU (transaxle control unit - assuming you have an automatic)

Any one of these items, and others, could cause your problem.  If your current mechanics cannot successfully diagnose the problem, try another mechanic.  Even the dealership may be more help if you haven't taken your car there yet.
Good luck!
