Mitsubishi Repair: jack stands adapters for pinch welds on uniframe, late model cars, jackstands

Question
Hi Anthony,

My car has unibody and I'm affraid to bend/fold the pinch welds at the jack points if I use regular jack stands. OEM jacks are designed with a groove in it in order to fit the pinch weld right in. I know there's floor jack adapters for it (see link), but what I'd really like is adapters for jack stands...

Where can we get such adapters?

Answer
Neil,
Unfortunately, I do not know of any adapters for jack stands.  For many, many years, I've been using all different types of jackstands on several different late model cars.  It is true that the jackstands can bend that part of the car.  But as long as you always lower the car slowly onto the jackstands, any folding or bending will be at a minimum.

You may be able to help ease your concern by putting a couple rags between the jackstand and the car so you don't have any metal on metal contact, which will also cushion the frame.  But overall, you shouldn't have to worry too much about damage to the car's body.
Good luck!
