Mitsubishi Repair: Engine Hesitation in 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage, DE Coupe, Manual, engine hesitation, hesitation problem

Dear Tim,
I hope you can help me with this problem.  I have a 1998 Mitsubishi, Mirage DE Coupe, Manual.  My car didn't have any problem until a little while ago when an engine hesitation problem has come up as follows:

When I start the car, it seems that engine is about to cut off sometimes (for instance, any light on car is dimming and getting back frequently) but it survives until it's totally warm and works normally.  However, when I start driving the car, engine hesitates severely. This probelm continues to exist for about 3~4 minutes and after that engine functions normally. I have this problem every time I start the car and the engine is already cooled down.

I should also mention that "engine check" light comes on when I start the car.

Can you please tell me what the problem is?

Hi Alireza,

First off sounds like your fuel filter needs replacing with it giving you hesitation during takeoff which is feeding to your injectors to keep the engine running i would have that replaced and that should help you on this problem. On your check engine light that could be a number of reasons for that but mostly the ones i've worked on with that i usually check the O2 sensor first and replace it and the car reacts fine to it and that also requires to reset the computer to shut that light out on your dash.  If it fails to go out after the sensor is replaced i would recommend having a diagnois check to it which that will trace the problem your having..Goodluck
