Motorcycle Repair: carb problem, vacuum leaks, vacuum hoses

Question
i have a kz 1000 Kawasaki with a problem i think you can answer for me. when it is sitting at idle it will start to rev up all on it's own. the throttle does not move but the engine rpm's raise all on it's own can you give me an idea of what to check out in order to stop this from happening.

Answer
Yes I think it is a vacuum leak. I have had that same issue and found I forgot to tighten a clamp on a carb manifold.
Use starting fluid to check for vacuum leaks. But first tighten all clamps and check the vacuum hoses for hardness and cracks.

If the carb manifolds are hard or cracked I would replace them.
A vacuum leak causes the issue you are having....www.viragocarb.com
