Motorcycle Repair: FXR rear fender, drag pipes, rear fender

QUESTION: Hey Mike,
I have a 94 FXR wanting to do the bobtail rear fender. I found a killer deal on a 00-05 night train original bobtail fender kit, wondering if that'll work with little modification?

ANSWER: You will have to do more modification than you want. The struts are completly different. Its not going to work.

QUESTION: Ok thanks Mike. Also was wondering what you would recommend for an exhaust system for my 94 FXR? It's an all stock motor as of now. It has short shots on and want something different due to short shots not being a very good system, lack of back pressure (from what I've been told). I'll be doing a single fire ignition and exhaust within the next week or so, wanting your opinion!

For exhasut I would go with a tuned system. Drag pipes or short pipes rod you of midrange power. Cycle shack makes a great set of pipes that are not high cost.
As to the single fire, for what it cost you are not really gaining anything by changing it out.I dont think they are worth it for the 2-3 horses that you are going to get.
