when choosing a head light is the 6 volt light bulb  any brighter than the 12 volt bulb.Is there any way to make either bulb brighter with out converting to 12 volts?

If you can find a 6v light bulb with higher wattage output, use that, but the market for that application is probably pretty small.

HDLT (6V 35/36.5W) 33100-428-671 is description & part number. The problem is that the stator is only wound to put out so much power to feed the lights. You would probably have to find a high-output stator to match either a larger watt 6v or to go to a 12v system. Watts are watts, though, so a 35w 12v light is the same as a 35w 6v in intensity.
