Motorcycle Repair: Tachometer install on 2011 FLHR, serial data line, trip odometer

Question
QUESTION: I can't find the source wire to install a tach? Any help? I have three wires coming out of the tach, red is 12 volts positive, black is ground and the other is a signal wire. I have the manual but can't find a source wire for connection to the signal wire.

ANSWER: Check the wiring in the speedo. It should be located there

QUESTION: In the spedo circut the areconnections for ignition, serial data, battery, accessory, ground, trip odometer reset switch, fuel level, and trip switch. The ignition wire also powers the neutral switch. The accessory line powers several things. could it be the serial data line? I don't think so but not sure. If I go to the coil for connection there is a power line, ion sense that I think is for the anti knock sensor, and a front coil, and finally rear coil circut. Any suggestions from here?

ANSWER: There should be a pink wire from the ignition harness connection (8B) which comes from the ECM position 12

QUESTION: My ECM connection is 78B and there is no position 12. The lowest position number is 18 and the last is 73. There is no pink wire on the schematic. Looking at the fairing wiring on other models with a tach, there is a connection for ignition which comes from the side of the ignition switch, as well as other connections on the way, a serial data connection, battery, accessory and finally a ground. It seems that the serial data would be the one. Might there be a pink in the harness but not be shown on the schematic. My head is getting fuzzy with this. I really appreciate you patience and efforts.

Answer
Not a problem. It buggs me that harley sells things without good directions on how to install!
The 8B I was refering to is the ignition harness connection. Follow the wire on the scematic that you have for bike with the tac, and follow it all the way to the ECM. That is your connection.
