Motorcycle Repair: electrical, battery connections, wideglide

I have a 1997 HD Wideglide.  Tried to fire it up today, turned on the ignition and everything lit up just fine.  I hit the starter button and heard a click then everything went black.  I checked battery connections and all are fine.  Battery is brand new and fully charged.  I tried jumping it, it fired up for a minute then went dead again.  Anything else I should look at?

When you turn the ignition off and let the bike sit for a few minutes and then turn the ignition back on do the lights come on? When you say you checked the battery connections did you remove them, at both ends, and clean them and retighten them?
