Motorcycle Repair: Removing Rocker cover bolts on a 2009 FLHX, rear cylinder, tight fit

Question
I want to take off my rocker box covers to have them powder coated, I have a 2009 FLHX (Touring Street GLide). my question is: how can i remove just the rocker covers, given the fact that the bolts are very close to the frame on the rear cylinder. do i need special tools just for the covers? do i need to replace any gaskets?how big of job is it and what will it entail? Thanks!!

Answer
you dont need a special tool. Its just a tight fit. I use a shortened allen head. Any time you remove somthing that has a gasket, its always a good idea to replace the gasket. Are you just taking off the top cover? If you are then just remove the bolts and remove it, powdercoat it and reinstall it with a new gasket
Good luck and happy riding
