Motorcycle Repair: carburator performance, yamaha xj 550, yamaha dealer

Question
I have a 81 Yamaha xj 550 with four carbs on it the bike will start with choke on when cold but as bike warms up and I take the choke off.The bike will stall some times the bike will start back up and sometimes I have to wait a few minutes.I have taken the petcock apart and cleaned all of the parts. To no avail I still have the same problem. Also if I can keep the bike running (revving the throttle)You can hear the bogging.(Please help if you can I want to put the bike on the road but cant until this problem is fixed)I called the local Yamaha dealer and they want $150.00 plus parts because there is not a rebuild kit for my bike (Yamaha maxim)so the parts all have to be bought individually. So as you can see this could get expensive if I have to rebuild those four carbs.I appreciate any help you give.

Answer
sounds to me like you will have to "bite the bullet" and have the dealer repair your bike...the labor rate that they have quoted you is quite reasonable for four carbs...and the symptoms that you have described indicate to me that your carbs need some attention...
