Motorcycle Repair: bent pushrods, adjustable rods, compression check

Question
Hello Mike Mario here again 92 FXDC.Bud I've started me bike after adjusting the pushrods,i let her warm up with the choke on.When i gave her a little throttle i heard a couple of slight knocks,so i killed the motor rite away.I thought maybe the rods are tight still.so i checked them and they were.I let her cool down and adjusted them again, this time as you explained by just backing off till i got play then nip up till no play.As i turned the rod the inlet one had a tight spot,so i new it was bent so is the inlet on the rear head.Dam it i said.I also found a fine crack in the bottom nut,not the locknut the lower bit,dam i said again.Next i put it all together gave her a compression check to see if valves were bent, result was 95PSI in both and ran her.No noise,no knock.I went for a 5min ride alls well.Except i found oil dripping out my breather(external with filter).Q1,Could i have a bent exhaust valve and still have good PSI in cylinders.Q2Do you sell adjustable rods to Australia,if so how much for what you recommend to be good ones?Q3,Do you have your own web site i can look at?Q4,If you dont sell, could you recommend what brand to bye and who you think is a fair trader for Internet shopping,I'm at a loss AGAIN.Thank you Mike,Mario in Australia.PS,shops here asking $285+ bloody crooks!

Answer
When you adjust hydrolic pushrod and you have some play in it, it takes a couple of minutes for it to pump up. The noise you heard was probably the pushrod rattling. Once you have then adjusted and run the bike they willb e slightly tight. Not finder loose like they would be in solid lifters. Once it pumps up it will stop the noise. the only way you can bend a valve is to have to pushrods to tight and that usually only happens with solid pushrods. Sorry, but I dont sell over seas. I would recommend either Andrews or S&S pushrods. Both sets sell for a little over 100.00.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
