Motorcycle Repair: 1983 V45 magna, vf750c magna, houseofmotorcycles

Question
I've lost my manual and have forgotten how to remove the rear tire on the shaft drive. I need to do a brake job, any information or trick of the trade would be appreciated

Basically, you have to loosen the axle nut and any pinch bolts, then slide the axle out. Make note of the spacers for each side and then remove the backing plate from the rear wheel assy and/or remove the whole wheel assembly with brake plate after you disconnect the brake plate stay.

When you put it back together, be sure to lube up the drive hub spines with grease. Loosen the final drive unit's mounting nuts, just enough to let the housing float free a bit. Install the rear wheel, brake plate, spacers, brake stay and then tighten down the axle nut firmly.
Finally, go back to the final drive nuts and tighten them last. This allows the splines to align properly.
