Motorcycle Repair: kick start, intermediate jet, plug wires

QUESTION: 1981 fxef, when cold, 1 or 2 kicks with key off then open enrichener on s&s carb, turn key on and 2 or 3 kicks and it starts. when warm/hot it takes a lot of kicking and sometimes a break in between, to rest my leg

ANSWER: Which S&S carb do you have, the "B" or the "E"? What ignition are you running? Pull the plugs and let me know what color they are.

QUESTION: carb is "E" the ignition is stock and the plugs are a light black and very slightly wet

By your plugs you are running a little rich or your coil is weak. I would first test the coil and plug wires to make sure they are good. If they are then go one jet smaller on the intermediate jet and try that. Since you say that your plugs are wet, then you are probably burning a little bit of oil, so the smaller jet might help with that problem as well.
