Motorcycle Repair: front wheel, headlight assembly, proper steps

Hi, i have a95 ultra classic the speedo stopped working so i removed the front wheel then repaired the small tab that inserts into the dics brake which turns the drive then replace the wheel my question is the speedo head moves  forward when i put the brake on has now put kinks in the old cable and has also broken the inter cable i know i need to replace it .what i need to know is how much movement the speedo head moves if any and the proper steps on putting the wheel back together    Thanks Darrell

When that small tab breaks that usually means the drive unit is froze up and needs replaced. the cable just screws into the drive unit. the speedo movement is probably from the cable being froze up and binding. I would replace the drive unit and the cable. You would have to remove the headlight assembly and then the front fairing cover to get to the cable at the back of the speedo. In order to install the cable just follow the where the old cable runs.
