Motorcycle Repair: CX500D 79 Camchain lock nut spins, shaft seals, cam shaft

Question
Am hearing a slight rattle in the rear of the engine and noticed the camchain tensioner lock bolt is loose and won't tighten.  It just spins.  This bike is new to me, although I have a 78 CX500 that I have had for a couple of decades.  The 79 runs fine (other than rattle) and it has leaks at the front and rear of the cam shaft.  Other than a couple of shaft seals to cure the leaks, how serious a problem am I likely to find when I pull off the rear cover?  I have not heard of this lock bolt breaking or stripping out in other discussions.

Answer
Howard, I've not heard that it's a common problem either but if someone repeatedly over tightens the lock bolt, it could fatigue the aluminum and strip the threads.  It's not too big of a job other than you may have to pull the engine to get to it.  A helicoil will fix the stripped threads easily enough.
