Motorcycle Repair: honda 305 scramblers, honda cl77 scrambler, heat shields

what years did 305scramblers use the chrome  buckles on the seat strap also some scramblers use short exhaust griles and some use the longer that go all the way to the muffler.ed

Ed, Honda used the outside seat strap buckles up to early 1965 on the CL72 250 Scramblers. Later replacement seats came with straps that connected under the seat pan. Most all CL77s would have the later style seat, but the early CL77s used the same frame mounts as the CL72s, so seats could be interchanged. In 1966, CL77s went through a vibration proofing series of design changes, so the seat mount became rubber mounted at CL77-1033481, along with the footpegs, rear fender and exhaust and a few other items.

CL72s all had short heat shields, but the CL77s changed to the longer types at CL77-1046211 to better protect passengers from exhaust burns.
