Motorcycle Repair: brake pads, honda cbr 250, bout time

Hay Ive had my Honda cbr 250 for about a year and i figured it was a bout time i had a look at the brake pads what is the best way to go about it and what should i look for with regards to if they need changing or not?

David, just take a look at the distance between the disk and the metal backing plates of the pads.  That's how thick the pads are.  If there's 3 mm or more you're probably good for another season, depending on how much you ride.  If they are less than 3 mm you probably should replace them.  There are two bolts holding the calipers to the mounting bracket and there are two pins that have to be removed to get the pads out.  Once you get it off, you can see how it all comes apart.
