Motorcycle Repair: 90 Vulcan 750 will turn over but wont start, vulcan 750, fuel filter

Question
I just bought a Vulcan 750 yesterday. It started up, with much hesitation and some smoke, and then I rode it home. Today I got on to go for a spin and it will turn over and I got it to run for a second, but not again after that. The guy I bought it from said the gas was a little old, but we put fresh gas in and I figured that I would just run it out and then add a fresh tank. Also, it would only run with the choke at least half-way engaged. Is this just bad gas and all I need to do is clean the carb, lines, and so forth; or is there something else amiss?

Answer
hello greg , Dont worry its not to bad ive seen it hubdreds of times . you need to drain your tanks ,disconnect you carburator line sprsay some carb cleaner in the linethat go into thr car let them soak for a few hours then drain your carbs , then hook up all the lines to their respective places change the fuel filter .the bike should be fine . your carbs are starving for fuel thats why it only runs when you have the choke half way , it causes more suction for gas cause of dirty carbs, i hope this helps you.im here if you need more help ok.P.S please leave feedback for me .
