Motorcycle Repair: 04 crf 80, air screw, altitude changes

Question
what is the air screw setting on a 04 crf 80 carb. 1 turn or?

Answer
Ken,

since all bikes run different in various
parts of the country due to altitude changes
this adjustment is best done manually.

By this I mean turn the air screw in until
the engine falters, then turn it out
until you find the highest rpm.
You may have to turn the idle speed down at this
point to a normal idle speed.

You can also turn it outward (anti-clockwise)
until it falters and set it about
mid-point between the two points where the
idle falters or slows down.

The standard settings are not right for every bike.
Better to adjust it to suit your bike's condition and
geographic location.
