Motorcycle Repair: battery charging, stator, gecko

Question
I have replaced 2 batteries in the last 3 months. I have a Titan Gecko..... I was checking the wires underneath the frame and they started sparking. I found that one of the wires from the regulator was bare. I replaced wire, but noe the battery will not charge. What should I do next.

Answer
What you need to do is test your stator. Do a OHMs test on the pins of the stator. If that passes then do a AC volt test. At 2000 RPM you should be showing about 60 volts. If the stator passes the above tests, then the regulator is bad. If it fails then the stator is bad.
Good luck and happy riding
