Motorcycle Repair: What sissy bar will fit my 98 FLSTS, backrest, saddlebags

I bought a 98 FLSTS which no longer has its OEM saddle so has no backrest but my wife wants a sissy bar. However I find it totally confusing as to what is compatable with my FLSTS. What would be ideal, is a sissy bar with detachable sideplates which, if possible, would also allow fitment of other accessories such as OEM saddlebags. So my question is, what would fit, HD or otherwise? Can you help?

A detachable sissy bar is a little more costly than one that is mounted, so you need to look at if you are planning on taking it on and off.
You can get HD sissy bar or you can shop around and look for aftermarket. the aftermarket will be somewhat cheaper that the HD one, but as long as you get one that is made for a FLSTS, it will fit just fine
