Motorcycle Repair: 1984 honda shadow ignition puzzle, arc welder, honda shadow

hi mark,
on the above bike(which won't run), while checking for spark on the plugs, when the key is turned on and the engine cranked the plugs begin to arc continuously. almost like an arc welder. i replaced the pulse generator because diagnostics showed it faulty,but, even with the pulse generator disconnected the plugs will arc constantly. coil resistances check out. would you think replacing the spark units would help? thanxs

Hi Bruce, Sounds to me like something is very possibly fried in the ignition modue itself. If it had points, id say they were stuck, but since you have a pulse coil, this is not an option. Try that, i believe this will cure your spark issue..
