Motorcycle Repair: problem with 2001 harley fxd superglide, harley fxd, turn signals

Question
speedomotor went out on freeway two weeks ago - then check engine light was going on and off for about a week - battery got hot and melted - motorcycle died on the road, no power - replaced battery, voltage regulator, checked all grounds, fuses are good, tightened all connections, relays are good - problem is turn signals stay on constant, if battery is connected and then turn on kill and start switches, nothing happens - no crank on starter, nothing. If I connect battery and turn on switches before engine light comes on, engine will fire and start and run. If I turn the engine off, bike will not restart, no power anywhere. WTF??

Answer
You have a bad short somewhere. What you are going to have to do is start at the battery and trace each system to find it. With your battery meltdown at this moment you wouldnt be sure whick system got damaged. Since it wont start, start with the starting system and then go to the ignition system.
Good luck and happy riding
