Motorcycle Repair: starting bike, wire hook, solenoid


Question
i got a new button with two wire. hook one wire to the R/we wire on the solenoid. and one wire to a in line fuse the solenoid clicks when push the button.i tryed putting the wire back the way i had them befor. b/we wire grounded and R/we wire to the tbattery to see if it would start it did nothing.is there a way to check to see the start went bad.

-When you click the button to the solenoid on
there should be power on both of the big posts or terminals
on the solenoid. One of these posts goes to
the battery and the other goes to the starter.

-If you have power going
to the starter it should start, otherwise
the battery is too low or the starter
is having problems. It may need new brushes
inside or maybe just cleaning.

-If the solenoid clicks but no power
goes to the starter, then the solenoid
is having problems.
